Introducing Me…


Hi! My name is Laura and as a complete newbie to blogging, I’m pretty sure however I write this, it’s going to end up sounding like a cheesy American “have-a-nice-day” type post! I’m not even sure whether it’s within blog etiquette to write things like ‘lol’, lol!

Well, thank you for stopping by and figuratively saying hello anyway! I apologise in advance for my overuse of exclamation marks, commas and such colloquialisms as ‘lol’. If you’re going to read my blog, I’d like you to read it as though I were speaking to you, so you get to know the real me. That’s why I started it (no, I’m not a sad loner that needs more friends-although everyone could use more friends couldn’t they?!).

The aim of my blog is fundamentally to provide therapy for myself. I am a lifelong dieter. I have a rubbish relationship with food. My aim is to stop dieting…FOREVER! The OCD part of me is already panicking that I am even going to attempt this, but I am going to, and I’m hoping that you will come along for the ride.

I am a mummy to two beautiful girls; Phoebe (4) and Esmรฉ (7 months). I have always struggled with my weight, but over the years, I have been on a constant diet and have managed to mostly maintain a healthy weight for my height. However, having my youngest daughter, I gained 6 stone in total. I’ve now got 2.5 stone left to lose and I am going to try and do it without dieting. It’s not just me that has struggled with weight issues, so have the women in my maternal family. I am determined to break the cycle so that my daughters grow up with healthy bodies and minds and a great attitude to food and life. To do this, I have to change.

My plan, therefore, is to lose the remaining weight simply through cooking from scratch, and exercising. Two (almost) completely alien things to me. It’s going to be tough, but I amย going to give it everything I have; I owe it to my girls.

    Good luck! You sound very determined to get to your goal and I’m sure this log will spur you on mentally to. This might be common sense to you but I always think like this so it isn’t so daunting but makes weight loss realistic and achievable……….Break the weight loss into small amounts say 1-2lb a week, work out how many pounds you want to lose, then work out how many weeks it could take you and I bet you’ll be surprised how soon your goal could be achievable. Look forward to following your progress. PS I’m always battling with my weight too.
